Here we go again. The closer we get to the end of the year, the more we talk about the College Football Playoff scenarios. Sometimes it works out where there are only 3-4 prolific teams and it all fits nicely into the little foursome they have created for the playoffs. However, something tells me this year is going to be one of those years we hear more about the necessity to move to an eight team playoff. I think there are 6 teams who could all make a run at the championship. There are other potential snafus ahead. Let’s just say LSU plays Bama tight and loses 31-30. Then, UGA beats Bama in the SEC conference championship. How many of these three teams does the committee take to the playoffs? Clemson and Oklahoma run the table and they should be in. Does that leave one or two spots for the SEC? What about the Big 10 with Ohio State or Penn State? Forgetting about Wisconsin? Mark my words, there will be 2-3 teams left out of this year’s playoffs that will leave us all wondering “what if we had an eight team playoff?” It needs to happen sooner rather than later.

Taking some brutal losses ATS lately, but only a couple games away from getting over the .500 hump. Ready for my annual mid-season hot streak. Feel good about this week’s games. Let get after it!
Iowa -17 vs. Purdue – Iowa is roughly two touchdowns away from being undefeated. Their defense is going to stifle the banged up Boilermakers.
Iowa 34 Purdue 13
Utah -13 vs. Arizona State – Utah will play inspired at home and Zach Moss will have a big day running the ball against the Sun Devils. The Utes’ D will shut them down.
Utah 31 Arizona State 17
Washington +3 vs. Oregon – This will be a lower scoring game for a game with two prolific quarterbacks. I am taking the home dog here who has the better coach.
Washington 24 Oregon 23
Michigan +9 at Penn State – Everything points to a PSU blowout. I am giving Harbaugh one last chance to redeem himself in a big game. I don’t necessarily think they can overcome the White Out crowd in Happy Valley, but I do believe they will backdoor cover and keep it close.
Penn State 24 Michigan 20
South Carolina +5 vs. Florida – The weekly “stinky line” pick. Something smells rotten in South Carolina. The public will be slamming the Gators. Don’t be a square.
Florida 27 South Carolina 23
Oklahoma State -3.5 vs. Baylor – Are the Bears really a 7-0 worthy team? I don’t think so. It is hard to get a win in Stillwater. I think Okie State is actually the better team.
Oklahoma State 38 Baylor 31
Appalachian State -14.5 vs. Louisiana-Monroe – App State is a tough team. I wish more Power 5 schools would take them on. I think they win this one easy.
Appalachian State 45 Louisiana-Monroe 23
Temple +7.5 at SMU – Ok, the Mustangs run of covering ends. I am going to stop riding them. Although, I still think they remain this year’s surprise teams and stay undefeated.
SMU 34 Temple 28
Georgia -24.5 vs. Kentucky – UGA will be angry. This one will be over at halftime. Bad timing for the Wildcats. Fromm throws for 4 TD’s and 300 yards.
Georgia 38 Kentucky 10
Season ATS record: 30-31
