Wide Open Road to the Championship?

At the beginning of the season, like most people, I thought this season would once again come down to Clemson and Alabama. Per usual, these were the two teams that stuck out most. Who would blame me? These two teams gobble up the 5 star players and just reload each year. Seemingly, they are far and away the best two programs in all of college football. They are expected to be back in the final, along with having the top Heisman candidates. After viewing some of the games last weekend, this might not be as much as a lock as it seems to be. There are chinks in the armor. For instance, Clemson has not looked impressive. Trevor Lawrence is having a sophomore slump and they were one bad Mack Brown decision from being taken into overtime against UNC. Bama gave up a slew of points to a sub-par team. Ohio State looks very strong and Georgia is gaining steam. We have some teams who can potentially break through and shake up the title picture. If UNC can almost do it, there has to be 15-20 other teams who can close the deal. The next few weeks should be very exciting and will provide a clearer picture that what now seems a bit muddled.

I am finally on the better side of .500 ATS. Will be looking to build on my success this week. Outside of week 1, I have had winning weeks every week. I feel a good run coming, so follow my picks!

Auburn -3 at Florida – This should be a great game. Feleipe Franks is not playing and that could be a good thing for Florida. However, I think Auburn has looked better this year with their freshman quarterback Nix.

Auburn 27 Florida 23

Georgia -24.5 at Tennessee – Two programs going in vastly different directions. UGA is my frontrunner for the championship.

Georgia 41 Tennessee 13

SMU -13 vs. Tulsa – The Mustangs have covered every week this year. I am riding them until they don’t cover.

SMU 41 Tulsa 20

Michigan State +20.5 at Ohio State – OSU has looked like the best team in the country. Michigan State has got to be the ugliest 4-1 Big Ten team in a long while. I think they finally show up and put up a bit of a fight.

Ohio State 34 Michigan State 17

Oregon -17.5 vs California – Quite frankly, Cal has looked really good for the most part this year. This spread seems a bit off. I think the public bites hard on all these points and gets pummeled, along with the Bears.

Oregon 34 California 10

UNC -10.5 at Georgia Tech – Tarheels are improving. They almost beat Clemson. Georgia Tech doesn’t have the players to run the offense they want to run. It’s going to take a few years.

UNC 30 Georgia Tech 17

Kansas State -1 vs. Baylor – This game will be a great game. I like the Wildcats at home. Lower scoring game than expected.

Kansas State 27 Baylor 20

Season ATS record: 23-22
