Seats Are Getting Hot!

This is the time of the year when you pretty much know how the season went for the program you support. At this stage, if your team is bowl eligible, you should be in a position to not seek a coaching change for 2019. However, if you are aligned to a school with lofty expectations (ie – Auburn), maybe just being bowl eligible isn’t quite good enough. Every school and their boosters have a different level of tolerance. Some schools are perfectly fine wallowing in mediocrity and others demand double digit wins, at least every other year. Louisville already dropped the hammer on Bobby Petrino. Who is next?

Here is a list of coaches who are sitting on some very hot seats right now.

Clay Helton, USC – The Trojans are a major disappointment this year and super frosh JT Daniels didn’t set the world on fire. USC won the PAC-12 last year. It would be crazy to fire him after one bad year. Then again, he lost to Cal, Utah, and Arizona State this year. Not good.
Chance to get fired: 75%

Larry Fedora, UNC – The Heels have lost 15 of their last 20 games. They have showed small flashes of promise, but mostly have been a disaster. Luckily basketball season has started and the aluminum bleachers will be empty the last few games.
Chance to get fired: 70%

Chris Ash, Rutgers – Ash is 7-27 since taking over Rutgers. Jersey has some quality high school football. Who can resurrect this debacle of a program? How about Greg Schiano? Get him back where he belongs…
Chance to get fired: 65%

Mike MacIntyre, Colorado – Local news has already been reporting he won’t be back next year. For awhile this year, it looked like the Buffs were turning a corner. Not so much….
Chance to get fired: 60%

Willie Taggart, Florida State – Could this really happen after just one year?! No way….However, the Noles have been unprepared all year. They have looked completely dysfunctional at times. Will the boosters get their way?
Chance to get fired: 55%

Now, for this weeks winners. We are coming down to the last few weeks of the season, so let’s finish with a bang!

Cincinnati +7 at UCF – Central Florida has not lost since December 2016. I don’t expect this to change under the lights and hosting College Game Day. I do expect the Bearcats D to slow the UCF offense down a bit.
UCF 31 Cincinnati 27

Notre Dame -10 vs. Syracuse – This game is being played at Yankee Stadium, in the cold November air. The Irish have a defense that can punch Cuse in the mouth. I expect Ian Book to get back on the field and have a solid game.
Notre Dame 41 Syracuse 23

Oklahoma State +4.5 vs. West Virginia – This line seems like a trap and I love it. Okie State almost pulled the upset against Oklahoma last week. I expect them to play another tight game this week. I think Grier throws a late TD to keep him in the Heisman race and get WVU the win, but I still like OSU to cover.
West Virginia 37 Oklahoma State 35

Oklahoma -35 vs. Kansas – This is the time of year where style points can make the difference between being ranked 5 or 6 in the CFP rankings. Expect the Sooners to take it up a notch. Kyler Murray makes a run at Tua.
Oklahoma 56 Kansas 13

Nebraska +1 vs. Michigan State – This is the game that Scott Frost needs to turn the corner on a down year for the Huskers. A signature win like this will keep the momentum going into 2019.
Nebraska 24 Michigan State 23

Kansas State +6 vs. Texas Tech – Bill Snyder is overdue to pull another rabbit out of his hat. QB Alan Bowman is doubtful for the Red Raiders.
Kansas State 31 Texas Tech 27

Temple -13.5 vs. South Florida – Two teams that are moving in different directions. Charlie Strong’s team has dropped three straight by double digits. I think Temple sticks it to South Florida this week.
Temple 37 South Florida 23

Louisville +16.5 vs. NC State – Petrino is gone, but NC State’s secondary will not allow a quarterback to not have a Heisman-like game against them. I don’t care if the water boy plays at quarterback for Louisville, he is chucking for 300. Wolfpack offense wins them the game. Watch #3 Kelvin Harmon for the Wolfpack. Must underrated wide receiver in the country.
NC State 41 Louisville 28

Iowa State +2.5 vs. Texas – Tom Herman is going to deal with two gnats in one week, Zach Smith and the Cyclones. I like Iowa State to keep this one very close and sneak away with a victory.
Iowa State 24 Texas 20
