Quenching the Thirst

We are getting ever so close to the best time of the year. We are one week away from what looks to be one of the most exciting “real opening” weekends ever of college football. However, we do have a few games on the slate this Week Zero that will serve nothing other than to quench the thirst of rabid sports gamblers across the country. Let’s be honest, if it weren’t for sports betting, no one would care about these games except for the alumni of the respective schools. Once we throw a few bucks down on any of these games, we get that tingly feeling again as a new football betting year commences. Here is my take on the games for Week Zero. Let’s whet our appetites and start off on a winning note.

Hawaii +15.5 at Colorado State
The run and shoot is back where it belongs for Hawaii. They are probably too young on offense to create any problems for Colorado State, but with the uncertainty of CSU head coach Mike Bobo’s status (currently in the hospital), there could be some continuity issues for the Rams in the first week of their season. Not enough to provide an upset in this game, but Hawaii does just enough to cover.

Wyoming -4 at New Mexico State
New Mexico State made a bowl last year for the first time since 1960. They should be good for another couple decades. Wyoming’s offense was dreaded last year with one of the best QB’s in college football, but I believe they will actually be improved this year. Wyoming has 8 starters back from a solid defense who led the nation last year in takeaways. I like Wyoming to win with their defense in a close battle.

Hawaii and Wyoming both cover by the thinnest of margins. That’s why they call it gambling. Welcome back!
