Here we are…..Seems like yesterday we were all getting ready to tailgate over Labor Day weekend for our first glimpse of football. The excitement was in the air. Next thing you know, Thanksgiving came in the blink of an eye and we are now staring down the barrel of NCAA Bowl & NFL Playoff seasons. It’s been an interesting year. My feelings are that many games went chalk and Vegas got hit pretty hard this year. Seems like Joe Public has made a killing riding the Pats and fading the Browns. For Public Faders like me, not so good. All things equal out, so expect a wild month of December.
Here are ten games I like this weekend:
West Virginia -17.5 vs. Baylor – The Jim Grobe era is coming to a screeching halt. Baylor started out fairly well, but they have been a struggle bus the last month. After starting 6-0, they have lost their last 5 games. They are the walking dead. Outside of the state of Oklahoma, WVU has had a tremendous year. Look for them to get to their 10th win fairly easy. West Virginia 49 Baylor 24.
Penn State +3 vs. Wisconsin – Two 10-2 teams that are playing well. Wisconsin is a few plays from being undefeated and the Nittany Lions Offense has been on fire for the past month. I could see an overtime game here and that’s how I will call it. Penn State 26 Wisconsin 20 in OT.
Alabama -24 vs. Florida – The Gators Offense doesn’t stand a chance. This is the time of the year where people start hypothetically talking about what would happen if Bama played the Browns. Silly talk because even the lowly Browns would win by 20 against a college team. But, this isn’t the NFL and the Gators have some serious offensive woes. Alabama 34 Florida 6.
Kansas State +3.5 vs. TCU – Extremely sub-par year for TCU. Kansas State is a very solid team that is going to be extremely motivated to send Bill Snyder off on a good note. I love Snyder and he deserves this win. Kansas State 27 TCU 24.
Temple +2.5 vs. Navy – Navy is geting 87% of the money on this one. Temple is 24th in the nation in run defense. Navy’s offense has been on fire lately, but I believe Temple pulls off an upset here. Temple 31 Navy 30.
New Orleans -6 vs. Detroit – New Orleans is back in the hunt and Brees is playing at home. Detroit is overdue for a real clunker. No matter what happens in this game, they are still in first place. I look for a down game from the Lions and the Saints will play very motivated football. Saints 31 Detroit 23.
Jacksonville +3.5 vs. Denver – The 2-9 Jags have been a bitter disappointment but are starting to play some competitive football. Denver has a QB switch this week. I am sensing an upset here. The Jags put one together and upset the Broncos who might start to slip a bit. Jaguars 20 Denver 17.
Philadelphia +2 vs. Cincinnati – The Eagles laid an egg on Monday night. On the road in a tight 2 point spread game, I feel the public will be all over the Bengals. I feel people might be writing off the Eagles a bit too early. Bengals have fallen hard this year. Philly 23 Cincinnati 21.
Houston +6 vs. Green Bay – Green Bay might have turned the corner against the Eagles. I was very impressed with how they played. I am not 100% sold they are fully back. This will be a great test. I feel they win, but also feel like this line is a bit too high. Packers 24 Texans 20.
Arizona -2.5 vs. Washington – Arizona is due for a big game. They need to win out to have a chance. Washington has had a good year, but I feel Johnson runs the ball well in this game and the Cards come out on top. Arizona 27 Washington 23.
