Hot Rod’s Week 4 NCAA Picks

Week 3 finally provided a little clarity to the NCAA Football landscape. FSU is a year away. Bama can be beat. Louisville’s team looks quick, lean and exciting (kudos to Petrino and strength coach Joe Miday). I picked the Louisville game right and got the Oklahoma game wrong (Big Game Bob strikes again).

There are some exciting games this week. Here are my picks:

Tennessee -4.5 vs. Florida – Tennessee has had some lackluster performances this year. This is the biggest game of Butch Jones’ career at Tennessee. Although Butch has a 3-13 record vs. ranked teams, Vols show up for this one. 80% of public money on the Gators. Enough said. Tennessee 27 Florida 20.

Kentucky -2 vs. South Carolina – Good win for the Gamecocks last week against a tough ECU squad. Mark Stoops went off on his Defense in practice this week. Starting QB out for Kentucky and they are still favored? I think this line stinks and Vegas knows something. Kentucky 24 South Carolina 21.

Marshall +30.5 vs. Louisville – Louisville coming off a huge blowout of FSU with Clemson looming. Classic sleepwalk game. Louisville obviously still wins convincingly, but Marshall plays inspired at home and puts up some points. Louisville 48 Marshall 27.

Northwestern +8.5 vs. Nebraska – Every game is independent of itself. Nebraska is looking to have a breakout season. Northwestern started horribly. Public all over Nebraska. I smell a BDC (backdoor cover, for you rooks). Nebraska 27 Northwestern 20.

Upset Special of the Week:
Arkansas +6.5 over Texas A&M – Both teams are looking tough so far. Trevor Knight has been solid in his first year with the Aggies. For the Hogs, Austin Allen’s 160.9 passer rating is second in the SEC behind Chad Kelly. I think Bret Bielema turns a corner here and upends the Aggies. Arkansas 27 A&M 24

Heisman Watch:
Christian McCaffrey is still my pick to win the Heisman and he needs to have a big game this weekend against UCLA. This is going to be a tough game for Stanford, so he will need to show out for them to pull out a victory. 300 total yards and 3 TD’s should do the trick.
