The start of the NCAA season is upon us and I feel this season will be one to remember. Why? I don’t feel there is a clear-cut favorite. Bama doesn’t have a clear QB leader, OSU graduated a ton of talent, and Clemson has talent but the ACC is tougher than one would think. The great thing about the playoff system is that every game counts and affects who will end up in the final four.
A couple relatively off-the radar Running Backs to watch this year:
RB Saquon Barkley (Penn State) – Rushed for 1,000 yards with a pathetic offensive line
Matt Dayes (NC State) – Great running with great pass catching skills. If he can stay healthy, will be a force.
Elijah Hood (UNC) – Strong runner will put up some big numbers this year
James Conner (Pitt) – Cancer-free and ready to roll
Freshman to watch:
Linebacker Shaquille Quarterman (Miami) – Remember the name. Going to be a beast.
Christian McCaffrey (#5 @ Stanford) – Ed’s son should have won it last year. It’s in the genes because his brother is going to be a 2017 QB at Michigan.
Let the season begin! Here are a few of my projections for some opening week games:
Vanderbilt -3.5 vs. South Carolina – This is the one for this week. Half the public doesn’t even think Spurrier is gone. Since when is Vandy favored over a prominent SEC team? Trap. Take Vandy. Vanderbilt 21 South Carolina 17
Appalachian State +20.5 vs. Tennessee – Tennessee is the trendy pick of the SEC this year. If you think they aren’t looking past App State, you are crazy. Ask Michigan how that works out for a team. Tennessee will be real good this year and this game will get them focused moving forward. Tennessee 34-17.
Stanford -15 vs. Kansas State – I hate betting against Bill Snyder. But I think Stanford has a great year this year and feel the public will jump all over KSU with the points. McCaffrey is winning the Heisman this year. Mark it.
Stanford by 17, 41-24.
BYU +1 vs. Arizona – Another trap. Don’t fall for it. BYU 41 Arizona 38.
